ATASCOCITA, TX - A full-page ad in the USA TODAY newspaper will be the focus of an exciting project to stimulate national awareness and interest in the sport of kart racing. The ad will display this highly competitive sport to the public by conveying information and contacts for those that desire to learn more about the sport. With nearly 5.7 million readers, the ad promises to give the sport of kart racing a large dose of much needed exposure.

The sport of kart racing has grown immensely since the days of chainsaw motors and low-tech equipment. Today's karts are highly tuned racing machines capable of speeds easily in excess of 100mph. However, the vast majority of people continue to have embedded in their mind, an image of a kart with a tall orange flag attached, which can be purchased at the local department store. They are very much mistaken and that is one reason why kart racing needs a marketing face-lift. Kart racing continues to suffer from a lack of effective marketing and this project should significantly increase awareness of the sport and grow its participant and spectator base.

Mark Givens, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations at ExtremeSportsOnly.com and an avid kart racer, will coordinate the project. Continuously discouraged by the amount of participants and especially the amount of spectators at kart racing events, Mark decided to take a pro-active approach and begin promoting this exciting sport, instead of waiting for times to change, or others to act.

"I wanted to implement a marketing strategy that would help the sport of kart racing generate some much needed momentum by creating and maintaining interest. The USA TODAY ad should do that and more by supplying a tidal wave of interest," says Mark.

"The decision makers in the kart racing industry continue to struggle when it comes to effectively marketing the sport of kart racing and need to rise to the fact that thereis a marketing weakness in the sport. We must create awareness, interest and desire and then provide the means to take action. It is time to generate new interest in kart racing, both on the track and in the grandstands. The ad placement in the USA TODAY is the perfect vehicle to begin the process of effectively marketing the sport to racing enthusiasts," states Mark.

"We anticipate this project will be a defining moment for the sport as it will attract new racers and new fans. The continued growth of the racer and spectator base is critical to the long-term success of the sport. We are convinced that we can help the current organizations attract new racers and a larger audience, and if we work together this will be the beginning of a bright future for this great sport," says Mark. "This is our goal. It's not going to be easy, but hard work and creativity are what's needed right now," Mark continues.

The positive economic impact of the ad should propel the sport to a level, which has never been seen in this country. The ad will also be a tremendous opportunity for those businesses involved in the kart racing industry to attract new customers, as the cost of the ad will be paid, in part, by companies wishing to have their business name, logo and contact information included in the ad. In addition, contributions from drivers, crews, fans and anyone else will be accepted to offset the cost. Those supplying contributions to the project will be recognized for their level of participation.

With the assistance of many, a common goal can be achieved. To participate in this project, please contact Mark by e-mail at mark@extremesportsonly.com for further details.
