Kory King scores double-header at Badger Raceway
By Mike Weaver
DOUSMAN, WI - Badger Raceway saw the same weather as the CART racers did at the Milwaukee Mile. Very cloudy conditions coupled with cool temperatures made for a one-groove track which made passing quite difficult. The result was a number of bad crashes throughout the day. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
In racing action, Kory King was able to bag the "double-header" as he won both the Yamaha Heavy and Sr. Sportsman Heavy features. King, who was voted Badgerıs 2000 Rookie of the Year, is in the top-5 for both classes in the championship hunts. King also has his son Trevor racing in the Kid Karts class, so his race schedule is pretty hectic!
Jeff Funk Jr. has been able to keep his win streak alive by bagging another feature win in Jr. Can. Funk has won every feature since the beginning of the season. "Jeffy" Funkıs father comes from a drag-racing background and has been instrumental in keeping Jeffy in the winnerıs circle and is definitely a contender for "Mechanic of the Year".
For the second week in a row, the same three racers finished 1-2-3 in Briggs Jr. Stock. Brad Richards won the feature with Shelly Krzewinski taking second and Rachel Neitzel taking third! Kasi Graff continued her dominance of Junior Briggs with another win and Doug Della took another step towards a championship in Junior SSX Can.
