"Finally!!"
April 4, 2003
The snow is gone! The sun is actually shining! Finally, Yes finally spring is here. Yes spring is here and many of us are not ready. In all actuality Team Rapid Racing is ready. One more R & D session this coming weekend should be our final step in getting ready for the upcoming season.
Drum roll please! After much discussion and study Team Rapid Racing has decided to contest the championship in the CES SK-125 class. Four co hosted events and frequent alignments with SKUSA Great Lakes should result in impressive turnouts of 125s and would appear to be the place to be for a 125 shifter road racer in the Midwest.
As usual this writer, the original craggy veteran (Craggy not cranky) will be handling the driving duties ably assisted by the mysterious and omnipotent Gooseman (?) who returns in his role of crew chief. I would be the last to make any predictions but certainly we intend to vie for the title. "Lucille" our well massaged Tony/Honda should have the pace so it is up to me to do my job. Should get interesting.
We will be running a few other races as well with our opener coming at Mid Ohio in mid May for the WKA National there. After that we will return to an old favorite Grattan Raceway for the CES opener.
After much discussion during the off season it looks like my vision of a unified road racing series in the Midwest remains just that, A vision. The four co-hosted events are a step in the right direction but conflicting philosophies are making a mish mash of the class structure. Maybe some day!
In these times of strife and conflict I feel very strongly that it is our duty to go on about our lives as normally as possible. To do anything else would be un-American! I will support our troops and our country and I assume that my peers (you) will do the same. Fly the flag and be proud of who you are.
At the racetracks this summer stop by the Rapid Racing trailer and say hi. The Gooseman (?) and I will be truly glad to see you.
OK, until next time Race Hard, Race Safe and God Bless America!
"When in doubt, gas it. It won't help but it ends the suspense."
