"The Fat Lady Sings Again"
November 21, 2002
Friends and neighbors, Boys and Girls, that noise you hear is the door slamming on the end of the 2002 season. That's it. That's a wrap. Stick a fork in it it's done. PHEW!!!!
A lot of times (Hell! Usually!) by this time of the year I have just about had all the fun I can stand. This year the season ended just a little too early and I am itching to go racing already. This is going to be a long winter but fortunately things are busy here at the shop and that should help out during the cold, during the dark.
2002? Tough year, tough crowd! I am sorry to say that we managed to go the whole $@#* year without winning a race, but. (There is always a but.) After the ever faithful Gooseman (?) and I became better acquainted with "Lucille" our new Tony Mitox and with a solid development program in place we were on the podium three times out of the last five starts. By the end of the season we (The Gooseman (?) and I.) had become a force. I think this lets us qualify the season as a success. Certainly a lot was learned (What was that about old dogs?) and the development program continues forward. I know next season will be as tough or even tougher but challenges are their own reward.
I think this is a good time to thank everyone that helped this season. You all know who you are. Thank you all.
2003? The hope for a unified racing series for roadracing in the Midwest is slim at best, but. (But again!) Some strides will be made with a few co-hosted events. Progress will come in small steps and this has to be viewed as a positive step.
2003? Plans? Gonna race for sure. Series? Maybe, maybe not. We do however intend to build on the momentum from the late season and come out of the gate strong next spring.
The days are growing short and the nights long. What a perfect time to start planning next season. That is what we are doing, and that is what your competitor is doing as well. Don't get left behind next season will be here before we know it.
Meanwhile, Race Hard, Race Safe and God Bless America!
