"What Goes Ground Comes Around"

Learning about the Burris Championship Indoor Kart Racing Series at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds created within me a desire to go and see on Dec.12th. I grew up four blocks from there and was curious as to which building they would race in. My history with the fairgrounds was where my racing blood began to warm up. As a boy I often stood outside the fence watching road course, oval racing and over the fence for Thursday night dirt oval modified racing. It was a great day when my time came to race the road course in my Parrila powered King enduro kart back in the late sixties. Okay, back to the indoor kart race. I even had thoughts of racing this myself until reality set in. The four cycles were in their glory and with their low end torque turned around six second laps. That's two second turns and a one second straight-aways. The track looked almost D shaped on a concrete floor in an area I would guess to be about 80'X150'. The racing was intense. Passing was done by the better handling kart getting the inside line out of the turn, getting next to the other kart into the next turn. The centrifugal force must have tremendous and I would have needed a helmet strap to keep my head on. It was fun to watch "what goes around", but I'll leave that racing to the circle track specialists.

What goes around comes around is a popular phrase these days. My definition would be, what we do in life generally will return to us. We have the desire or wish towards people who have mistreated us to get their due. Our wish is that they will suffer as we suffered and hopefully learn from it or maybe it's a type of vengeance for us. We also believe that if we do good to people, good should return to us. This doesn't always happen. Let me add another dimension to this thinking, God and the spiritual. Galatians 6:7-9 from the Bible says," Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The man who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." From this scripture we learn to not have an earthly view of the things we do or the things done to us. We should look at these things from a Godly point of view, to live to please God and leave the results to Him.

I close with one more thought about this and eternal life. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." What we have "coming around", to us is eternal separation from God because of our sin. God breaks that circle when we trust Christ for His work done on the cross, to forgive our sin, bring us mercy and a new life and that eternal.
