"The Starting Gun Has Fired"

The countdown for the 2004 racing has started. The 2003 Award Banquets are over and the swap meets have begun. The season opener in April will come quick and it seems like there's so much to do. Both my karts have been taken apart and new parts have been purchased. My garage that the karts are in seems so far away and it's so cold out there. The -30 degree chill factor we are having today doesn't offer any encouragement either. I guess I could pray, "Why God don't you put this mess back together for me? I know that's one prayer that won't be answered. But I can pray, "Lord give me the ambition, self control, wisdom and time to get started, with a plan." If in each day according to that plan I will accomplish one thing, then as I see the progress it will encourage me to carry on. Soon as in the past years, I will be ready.

As I own my kart, so in the same way I own my salvation. 1John 5;12 says about this, "He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." The key word here is has. If I have something I have ownership. With ownership comes responsibility or stewardship. I own a home; therefore I must maintain it and pay taxes. Scripture talks much about this life we have with God. This "life" is gained by embracing Christ. Believing and trusting in Him. Trusting His death and resurrection for the payment of the debt I owed because of sin. That act of faith gives eternal life and the beginning of a wonderful relationship with the Lord. I own this life but it must also be maintained. As with my kart if day by day I work on it, it will be prepared for its called purpose, so with my salvation I will be prepared for my calling with God. Philippians 2;12 & 13 says, "continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." God works in us through our application of the Bible, prayer, worship, fellowship and witnessing.

As the performance of our karts will soon be seen, what will be the performance of our lives?
