Chaplain's Corner! By Kenneth Dressler Racers for Christ & Chaplain of the MG Tires Championship Enduro Series
During the off season, most of us karters have spent considerable time in repair, replacement or installing new equipment. I personally have done fiberglass repair, then painting, clutch rebuild, spindle replacement, had motors rebuilt, body detailing, etc. Off season is major maintenance, in season is continuing the same. That is the commitment of the serious racer, and we couldn't compete without it.
For parts, motor rebuilding, or instruction in maintenance I don't go to a Ford dealership, I go to the karting world. In the same way, people need to go to their Creator for daily guidance, help with life's problems and re-charging. Most often we go to the wrong source or, in pride, even trust ourselves. Our loving Father, who is continually reaching out to us, could even consider it rebellion if we insist on doing things our own way.
In Jeremiah 2:13 the Bible says, "My people have committed two sins; they have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." In John 4:10, Jesus said to a woman who had lived her life her own way, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." Man was designed to live in obedience to God. Man would be wise therefore, to submit to his Creator. That brings about a joyful and peaceful life. One way submission takes place in meditation on Godıs word and a growing obedience to it. This is great spiritual maintenance. This is profitable both for life and for karting.
